Announcements

First Week of Advent
Last Sunday marked the first week of Advent. We will be constructing an Advent Wreath as a class and lighting the Avent calendars weekly.

Christmas Secret
Now that we have entered the Christmas season. There will be a lot of buzz about the holidays. If your child knows about Santa’s Secret, please have a talk with your child about not spilling the beans at school. In grades five and six, there are still some students who are not in on the secret, and I do not want my classroom to the be place where the magic is broken. By this age, the secret is revealed to a lot of students, but I would prefer that this happens either at the prerogative of the parents, not in my classroom. Thank you for your understanding.

MTS Play (Legally Blonde)
We are travelling to MTS on Tuesday, Dec. 2 to watch their rendition of Legally Blonde. Please ensure that you have paid the ticket and bus fee on School Cash Online. Those who have not paid will have to stay at school until we come back.

Social Studies Interviews
Students will be creating biographies on a family member. The parameters of the interviews will be introduced this week. All interviews must be completed by Monday Dec. 8th so that student may start composing their biographies. Keep an eye out for that next week.

Below is a message from the Student Leadership Team
Hello Parents and Guardians,

It’s that time of year again! St. Anthony’s will be kicking off our Annual Christmas Food Drive next week, December 1–5, 2025, in support of the London Food Bank. We’re excited to spread some Christmas cheer and help families in our community during this season of giving.

We are asking students to bring in non-perishable canned goods throughout the week. Every little bit helps, and together we can make a big difference!

The London Food Bank is especially in need of:

  • Canned vegetables & fruit (no sugar added)

  • Canned tomatoes (no salt added)

  • Canned tuna and salmon

  • Peanut butter

  • Special-diet foods (gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.)

  • Dried vegetables (lentils, chickpeas, legumes, etc.)

  • Healthy breakfast cereals

Recorder Reminder
Most students have their recorders for music class. Please remind your child to bring their recorders for Monday.

Class Photos updated
I have updated some photos on our class website.

Recycling Opportunities:
At St. Anthony, we are a recycling hub for several different materials. Please consider gathering and sending in the following recyclables:

Batteries
Mechanical Pencils, Pens, and Markers

Google Translate Mobile App
Google has a great mobile app to help you translate English into any language except for Wookie.  It has three separate functions, the most interesting of which is the ability to use your mobile camera to translate various texts into English instantaneously on your screen. Although the translations are not perfect, it is more than enough to give user a good idea of what is being said.
